When you look closely at the back of any of our snack packs, there is a particular image you will see—a silhouette of someone putting rubbish into a bin. This is the international standard sign calling for individual responsibility in keeping our environment clean. To us, this is not just a mere symbol; it is an actual call to action.

At Newman’s, we enjoy making your favorite snacks, but we love a clean environment even more. Once you’ve enjoyed your snack, please help us keep the environment clean by tossing the pack in the bin!

In line with this commitment, we are delighted to put this responsibility into action through our partnership with the Lapatutu Letter Writing Competition. This initiative has seen students at Nakiwogo Primary School take on the challenge of writing to a friend who constantly litters, offering them practical solutions to the problem.

For Newman’s, supporting this competition makes perfect sense for two simple reasons. First, primary school students are a major part of our customer family. This vibrant age group is extremely energetic, and with all their activity, they need a good snack to power them up. Secondly, we are deeply passionate about ensuring that our young consumers grow up conscious of maintaining a clean environment. This made the partnership a perfect fit for our values.

As Newman’s, we shall be providing the winners’ bags and pens, as seen in the photo above where our Head of Marketing, Uthman Katende (right), is pictured with the Lapatutu team during the handover of the items. As an added bonus, each of these bags will come packed with delicious Newman’s snacks for the winners to enjoy.

We hope that with these bags, students will be inspired on their educational journey to believe for greater things, and with the pens, they will keep boldly writing their future with hope.

Well done to every single student who participated in this competition; taking part is an invaluable part of the learning process. We now look forward to the grand finale, where we shall head to Nakiwogo Primary School to witness the art of writing being nurtured.
