The United Nations has officially declared 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer (#IYWF2026). While the world turns its attention to the agricultural value chain, at Newman’s, this isn’t just a theme, it’s our heartbeat. This touches the very core of our two greatest pillars: Women Empowerment and Agriculture.
It all starts with the soil at Newman’s, every snack we produce and every piece of fruit and vegetable we export begins in the same place: the soil. Without the careful cultivation of the earth, the quality you’ve come to expect from us wouldn’t exist. There would be no snacks to enjoy, no produce to share, and no “Magic” to taste.
Because we value the beginning of the chain, we value the people who stand there. In the rural fields of Uganda, those people are overwhelmingly women.
We don’t just see women as laborers; we see them as the primary architects of rural development. Through our work, we’ve witnessed a powerful reality:
Financial Guardians: Women are championing Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs), building the capital needed to sustain their farms and communities.
Lifelong Learners: They are at the forefront of every training session, constantly seeking better systems and more sustainable ways to farm.
Legacy Builders: Most importantly, these women are turning agricultural profit into education. They are using the soil to grow a generation of children who will reach even further than they have.
Newman’s proudly joins the United Nations in celebrating the Woman Farmer. To us, they are the true heroes of humanity. Throughout 2026, we are dedicating our platforms to spotlighting the specific stories of the women in our value chain. We want you to see the faces behind the flavors.
To the woman farmer; thank you!
Thank you for your resilience, your wisdom, and your hard work. You enable us to create quality. You allow us to feed the world.
It is because of you that our customers can truly Taste the Magic!
