This shared vision recently brought us into a proud partnership with one of the region’s most inspiring football icons: Zaina Namuleme, the celebrated captain of the Uganda Women’s National Football Team, the Crested Cranes. When she isn’t donning national colors, Zaina plays for the Kenya Police Bullets Football Team.

Any professional footballer will tell you that the true test of an athlete happens when the stadium lights are turned off. Even during the off-season, staying in top competitive shape requires keeping the legs moving and the rhythm alive.

Instead of taking a quiet break, Zaina chose to invest her valuable off-season exactly where it matters most—at the Gombe Football Academy. She spent her days mentoring them, breaking down tactical skills, and passing on the elite mindset required to play at the highest professional level.

True mentorship, however, requires the right tools. When Newman’s learned about Zaina’s noble cause, we knew we had to step up and ensure these aspiring stars had exactly what they needed to thrive.

We joined hands with the captain to support the academy’s mission by donating quality footballs, giving these young athletes the fundamental gear needed to sharpen their skills, play safely, and grow the sport they love. For us, it is about fueling the very dreams that keep our communities moving forward.

Whether it is powering an elite national captain during her rigorous training schedules or giving a kid at Gombe Academy their very first quality football to chase down a dream, Newman’s remains fully committed to celebrating and elevating homegrown Ugandan talent.
