Our Pledge to a Cleaner Uganda: Proper Disposal of Your Snack Packs

After you have enjoyed your delicious snack, whether it’s our savory Salted Potato Crisps or our tasty Maize Snacks, the enjoyment shouldn’t end with a messy environment. At Newman’s, we are committed not only to making great products but also to protecting the beautiful Pearl of Africa that makes our ingredients possible.

Look closely at the back of every Newman’s pack. Right next to the nutritional information and our commitment to being “PROUDLY UGANDAN,” you will find a small but critical reminder: the symbol of a person putting waste into a bin.

This is more than just a graphic; it represents a visible pledge from Newman’s. By featuring this internationally recognized disposal symbol, we are not just following packaging norms. We are demonstrating our commitment to the environmental well-being of Uganda, the very land that nurtures our ingredients.

It’s a direct appeal and an act of accountability, reinforcing the message that while we produce the snack, the final act of responsibility for proper disposal belongs to us all. This symbol asks every customer to partner with us in keeping the Pearl of Africa clean.

Our country is too beautiful to be littered. That empty crisp or snack packet is small, but when multiplied across communities, litter becomes a major issue.

Here’s how you can help keep our land clean and thriving:

  1. Always look for the Bin: Never drop your empty packet on the ground. Hold onto it until you find a designated bin.
  2. Encourage Others: If you see someone carelessly disposing of waste, politely remind them of the importance of keeping our environment clean.

By simply taking a moment to store your empty pack in a cool, dry bin (as recommended on the label!), you honor our shared commitment to a cleaner, greener Uganda.

Let’s work together to protect the land that feeds us!
