The Soil that grows our Snacks

There are certain things that seem obvious in our country, Uganda. When you throw seeds on the ground, it is fairly easy for them to germinate even without too much care. In fact, it’s easy to find nutritious greens like dodo (amaranth) growing on its own! The richness of our soils makes Uganda such a fertile place for organic food production.

Every 27th September is World Tourism Day, a time to celebrate discovery, culture, and the places that capture our imagination.

As the entire world celebrates World Tourism Day, we at Newman’s are drawn to a particular aspect of food tourism that we can—and must—capitalize on as a nation.

Uganda didn’t earn the name “The Pearl of Africa” for nothing. It was Sir Winston Churchill who, captivated by the country’s magnificence, variety, and profusion of life, first coined the phrase. More than a century later, his words ring truer than ever, especially when it comes to food.

We are blessed with the world’s most crucial ingredient: incredibly rich, volcanic soil. This fertility means that our produce is not just abundant, but also NATURALLY flavorful, nutritious, and often grown without the need for extensive chemicals.

For this very reason, we are delighted as Newman’s to have our snacks made entirely from our authentic, organic food.

The potatoes that make our delicious crisps, the groundnuts that make our trademark Roasted G.Nuts, the simsim, the pumpkin seeds—you name it, they are all grown right here in the Pearl of Africa! When you choose a Newman’s snack, you’re not just eating a treat; you are tasting the pure, untainted goodness of the Ugandan earth.

On this World Tourism Day, we invite the world to come and taste the richness of Uganda. Experience food that is grown, not manufactured, and discover the true meaning of natural flavor.

And while you’re here exploring the Pearl, let our Newman’s snacks accompany you every step of the way!

Happy World Tourism Day!
